Tokyo (September 1, 2016) – Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that it has established the Konica Minolta Group’s first dedicated production print (PP) sales company, Konica Minolta Pro Print Solutions Korea Ltd. (BPKR), in Seoul, Korea. BPKR has already started operating.
As part of its global strategy to promote PP business, Konica Minolta places importance on Korea, the second largest market in Asia, after China. Against the backdrop of a drastic increase in sales of color MFPs in the Korean PP market, demand is growing for higher printing performance and higher levels of service to ensure stable production of high-resolution and high-quality images.
While Konica Minolta did offer office equipment to Korean customers through local distributors, the company determined it critical to strengthen its sales and service operations by shifting to direct sales, especially in the PP market in which it sells digital printing and other printing systems. Thus, Konica Minolta established a dedicated PP sales company.
With the establishment of the new company, Konica Minolta aims to
- offer support services for higher customer satisfaction and strengthen its operations in Korea, especially in Seoul, thereby securing the highest share of sales of digital printing systems on a unit basis in the Korean market; and
- launch products and services tailored to the needs of Korean customers by working in close cooperation with Kinko’s Korea Ltd., an on-demand printing company and a member of the Konica Minolta Group, to promote the PP business and expand its operations in the Korean market.
Konica Minolta established BPKR as a wholly owned subsidiary in April 2016, and through BPKR, acquired the PP sales unit of its office equipment distributor in Korea, Taeheung Info Systems Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Seoul) in August 2016. At the same time, BPKR commenced sales operations.
Under the brand proposition “Giving Shape to Ideas,” Konica Minolta will continue to offer solutions and technologies that are optimal for customer needs by leveraging its technological prowess in the PP area.
