Ricoh recently broadened its selection of entry-level monochrome MFPs with the release of the SP 311SFNw. It is a print, copy, scan and fax device that features a top print speed of 30 ppm and a maximum print resolution of 1,200-by-600 dpi. The SP 311SFNw is Ricoh’s first A4 monochrome MFP to include standard embedded Wi-Fi connectivity, which had been available only as an option in the past.

HP has expanded its selection of monochrome A3 MFPs with the launch of the new LaserJet Enterprise MFP M725 series. The new line consists of four 40-ppm machines: the M725dn, which is a print, copy and scan device; and the M725f, M725z and M725z+ models, which also support fax functionality. The new units are based on an 800 MHz processor and feature 1GB memory as well as HP FutureSmart firmware, enhanced mobility features and a Hardware Integration Pocket (HIP).

The new LaserJet Pro M521dn and M521dw multifunction printers are 42-ppm devices, each with a monthly duty cycle of 75,000 pages. The new LaserJet Pro M521 units leverage the print engine from the LaserJet Enterprise MFP M525 series along with the dual-head scanning technology and user interface from HP’s LaserJet Pro M425 series MFPs. Both previously released machines hit the market last spring. The LaserJet Pro M521 series accommodates 600 sheets of paper, which is expandable to 1,100 sheets when configured with an optional 500-sheet tray. Both the M521dn and M521dw have a print resolution of 1,200-by-1,200 dpi and a 3.5-inch color touch screen, offer automatic duplex printing, and come standard with a 50-sheet duplex scanning automatic document feeder (ADF).
Toshiba America Business Solutions (TABS) recently released its first branded series of A4 color MFPs. The e-STUDIO287cs, 347cs and 407cs are print, copy, scan and fax-capable units co-developed with OKI. They feature OKI’s printer-based engine and consumables; Toshiba’s e-Bridge controller, software architecture and certain solutions; and other elements, including an inner finisher.
